Our Commitment to your Privacy and Security

A Place to Turn is committed to protecting your privacy and the security of information collected on its website. This Privacy Policy describes the kind of information we collect from you, how that information is used, and what kind of security measures we employ. A Place to Turn does not collect “Personal Information” as defined in Massachusetts Regulations 201 CMR 17.

Information Collection and Use

A Place to Turn requests information from clients and volunteers, but does not request this information via our website. You are under no obligation to provide any information; however, in order to participate in some of the services we offer at A Place to Turn, such information collection is necessary. Below is a brief summary of the information we typically collect from you and how it is used.

Donors: When you give an online financial donation to A Place to Turn, it is processed by Stripe, a secure PCI compliant payment processing service. Payment data is sent directly to Stripe and is not available to A Place to Turn.

Clients: Information collected from clients is done in person and offline. The information collected does not meet the definition of “Personal Information” as set forth in Massachusetts Regulations 201 CMR 17.

Volunteers: When you become a volunteer for A Place to Turn, we may ask you to provide us with your name, telephone number, physical address, e-mail address, and emergency contact. We use this information to populate our volunteer database and to contact you in connection with volunteer activities.

If a user of the website utilizes the “contact” function, the website records the IP address, browser and device type, in addition to any data the user submits (such as name, email, phone, etc). This information is retained for one year.

Donor and Volunteer Privacy Policy

A Place to Turn will not sell, share or trade information from clients, donors or volunteers with any other entity, nor send mailings to our clients, donors or volunteers on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to all information received by A Place to Turn, both online and offline, on any platform, as well as any electronic, written or oral communications. To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.

Computer Information

When you access our home page, our website does not collect any data unless the user utilizes the “contact” function or makes a donation. In both cases, the IP address, browser and device type is recorded, in addition to any data the user submits (such as name, email, phone, etc). The data is retained for one year.

Security

Only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by clients, donors and volunteers. Although A Place to Turn operates secure data networks, no internet transmission can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. However minimal, you use this site and its services at your own risk.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post a notice of those changes on the Privacy Policy section of our website so that you will always have notice of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
